SERENATA – A Classical Serenade Reimagined...

The final concert of this year’s Csigó Art Fest series will take place under the title SERENATA – A Classical Serenade Reimagined.

Returning for the second time to the Csigó Malom are two young and talented musicians, Bence Szigeti (guitar) and Dorottya Dénes (cello).

Both artists are mentees of the Rákász Gergely Foundation, which supported them in 2024 through two highly successful concert series, including nearly 30 performances, some in Transylvania, and regular appearances at Rákász Gergely’s spectacular organ concerts. In July 2025, Bence Szigeti will debut at New York’s Carnegie Hall after winning the Golden Music Awards International Competition.

“SERENATA” is a cello-guitar duo infused with Mediterranean flair. As the title suggests, the performers invite the audience to a modern serenade. The program features works by Granados, De Falla, and Heitor Villa-Lobos' Bachianas Brasileiras, and—true to the name—also includes Schubert’s beloved Serenade.

As Bence Szigeti puts it:“There’s nothing better than a Mediterranean summer evening, enjoying fine music with a glass of wine in hand.”

Salon Program: informal conversation accompanied by a wine tasting.

Ticket: 4.500 HUF

Serenata – A Classical Serenade Reimagined...

Dorottya Dénes & Bence Szigeti

The Serenata concert is a captivating encounter of light and music, where the passionate dialogue between guitar and cello transports the listener to the most enchanting corners of the Mediterranean world.

An evening woven from the fiery rhythms of Spain, the romantic melodies of Italy, and the vibrant spirit of South America, where past and present melodies intertwine.

At the heart of the concert lies Astor Piazzolla’s iconic Libertango, a piece that captures the full emotional range of tango — passion, drama, longing for freedom, and unstoppable drive. This groundbreaking work redefined the history of tango and now comes to life in a bold new form: a powerful duet for guitar and cello.

From the shadows of Spanish castles and the graceful dance of courtly ladies in the works of Enrique Granados, to the flamenco-infused, intense rhythms of Manuel de Falla, the program paints a vivid portrait of Andalusia’s fiery soul, where flamenco and classical traditions blend into one of the most electrifying voices in Spanish music.

No Mediterranean serenade would be complete without the soaring melodies of Italy: Antonio Vivaldi, the red-haired baroque genius, conjures the forces of nature in the “Summer” movement from The Four Seasons — blistering runs, raging storms, and untamed energy carry the audience through this Venetian masterpiece.

To complete the evening’s romantic journey, Franz Schubert’s eternal Serenade wraps the night in a gentle embrace, like a midnight confession of love beneath a balcony. And, of course, the concert includes the hauntingly beautiful “Spanish Romance”, one of the most iconic musical love letters ever written for the guitar.

Serenata is more than a concert — it is a timeless voyage, where past and present meet, and the serenade burns forever in our hearts.

💫 Step into this magical world and experience the rebirth of the classical serenade! 💫
